Founded in 1639 in the village of Riquewihr, the Hugel family winery is one of the most prestigious in the Alsace region. Grossi Laüe signifies the finest vineyards in Alsace dialect and represents an equivalent to German Grosses Gewächs or the Burgundian Grand Cru. The Pinot Gris is produced from three of the finest plots of the Hugel estate in the chalky Pflostig vineyard.
The 2011 is fruit-driven and ripe, offering delicious notes of apple, pear, fennel and wild honey, with a hint of flinty minerality. Generous, refined and dry on the palate, it is at the perfect age for drinking and would pair perfectly with a range of fish or seafood dishes.
