Gratallops Alvaro Palacios 300cl 2014
Alvaro Palacios is unquestionably one of the most significant Spanish winemakers to emerge over the past 30 years. Having studied oenology in Bordeaux, he began his winery in Priorat back in 1989 with the aim of utilising fruit from extremely old, low-yielding vines and modern winemaking techniques to create world class wines truly expressive of their terroir. This cuvée from the 2014 vintage is a blend of 80% Garnacha with 20% Cariñena from plots across the village of Gratallops. It is voluptuous and bold with expressive red fruits and heady floral perfume yet retains superb acid freshness and subtle mineral-tinged elegance.
