Galia was established in 2009 and is the personal project of Jerome Bougnaud, a fourth-generation winegrower from Cognac who has worked at leading wineries such as Dominio de Pingus and El Regajal. Fruit is sourced from a collection of old vines along the Duero River in the provinces of Soria, Burgos and Valladolid, with the final wine being bottled as Vino de Mesa as some sites are located outside of the borders of established D.Os. The 2016 is a blend of mostly Tempranillo with 9% Grenache and 4% Albillo, with wonderful aromatic prettiness atop a ripe core of concentrated red and black fruits. Full-bodied, but supremely well balanced, this would be the perfect accompaniment to barbecued meats.
