F.X. Pichler Smaragd Ried Loibenberg Gruner Veltliner Half 2018

The Pichler family have been farmers in the Wachau region for five generations. Franz Xavier (F.X.) built the winery in 1971, and his son Lucas makes the wines today. The 2018 Ried Loibenberg Grüner Veltliner Smaragd is bright, fresh and flinty, with an elegant and harmonious nose of rich, ripe fruits and delicate white pepper aromas. Intense and plush on the palate, this full-bodied but elegant wine has excellent structure and delicate phenolic grip, making it ideal to pair with a wide range of foods from asparagus with hollandaise, to smoked fish or ham.
