Having spent several years working at Château Pétrus, Álvaro Palacios established his own winery in 1989 in the less well-known Catalonian region of Priorat, where he had managed to find some incredible parcels of exceptionally old, low-yielding vines. In a relatively short space of time, he has gained a reputation as one of Spain’s most significant winemakers and his wines are comfortably some of the best in the region. The 2018 vintage is predominantly Grenache-driven, with a small percentage Carignan and white varieties making up the remainder of the blend. Boasting a beautiful dark berried concentration, together with complexity from notes of spice, mineral and wild herbs.
