Château du Domaine de L`Église is reportedly the oldest wine producer in Pomerol, with records dating it back to the 16th century. The 7-hectare estate was sold in 1972 to the influential Castéja family, who also owns Château Batailley and Château Trotte Vieille. The 2019 vintage – a blend of 97% Merlot and 3% Cabernet Franc – is the latest release from the château, presented here in a convenient half bottle format. The wine is rich and concentrated, boasting notes of liquorice, truffles, plum liqueur and hints of violets. It will age for decades, but also enjoyable to drink now.
