Domaine de l’Eglise is a Pomerol estate with history dating back as far as the 16th Century, yet has only really come to prominence as an exceptional level producer since the mid-2000s. Yields were down 30% in 2017 due to frost, but this is an impressive, if not powerhouse, release composed of 97% Merlot and 3% Cabernet Franc. Medium-bodied with chewy tannins, there is plenty of fruit that lurks in the background, but this may just need a little more time in the cellar.
