Located in Calistoga, Diamond Creek Winery was founded in 1968 by Al and Adelle Brownstein. They initially planted three vineyards – Red Rock Terrace, Gravelly Meadow, and Volcanic Hill – with Bordeaux grape varieties. This winery was the first in California to exclusively produce Cabernet Sauvignon wines and the first to introduce a US$100 bottle of wine from their estate. In 2020, Maison Louis Roederer acquired Diamond Creek, expanding their wine operations in California. This release comes from one of the estate`s original vineyards, which was planted in 1968 and features light, ashy soil. The 1992 vintage was particularly exceptional in California, resulting in wines celebrated for their intense flavours, concentrated fruit, structural complexity, and well-defined tannins.
