Domaine de la Romanée-Conti – often abbreviated to DRC – is undoubtedly the most prestigious wine producer in Burgundy. The estate is co-owned by the de Villaine and Leroy families, with Alexandre Bernier in place as cellar master following the retirement of Bernard Noblet in 2018. Romanée-Conti produces only grand cru wines, including this Corton, made from a 2.28-hectare vineyard leased to DRC by Prince Florent de Merode since November 2008. This release is from the 2017 vintage, available here in a splendid magnum format. It’s a medium-bodied wine, slightly savoury, boasting a firm acidity and a tannic kick on the finish.
