Domaine du Clos des Fées is the Roussillon winemaking project of former Parisian sommelier, restaurateur and wine writer, Hervé Bizeul. What initially started as a hobby in the late 90s rapidly became an all-consuming obsession and Hervé now produces some of the most acclaimed wines in the region. La Petite Sibérie debuted in 2001 and is the flagship cuvée produced from a 2-hectare parcel of ancient Grenache vines with maturation in 100% new oak. The 2009 is bombastic and flamboyant, with heady notes of kirsch, black cherries, plums, liquorice, spice box and woodsmoke. It is plush and concentrated yet never strays into confected or jammy, finishing with a kiss of sweet tannin and pep of acidity.
