Clonakilla Shiraz/Viognier 2018
Dr John Kirk planted the Clonakilla vineyard at Murrumbateman, 40km north of Canberra, in 1971 and is today recognised as one of Australia’s iconic estates. This is their flagship wine produced from a selection of the finest parcels and, in 2018, is a co-fermented blend of 94% Shiraz with 6% Viognier. It is opulent, multi-layered and incredibly deep, with classic notes of black berries, spices and violets. This is a long-term prospect that will require at least 3-5 years cellaring before showing to its best.
