Bodegas Roda is one of the newest wineries in Rioja and very much represents the modern side of the region, favouring short maturation times versus more traditional extended barrel ageing. Cirsion was first released in 1998 and is a vineyard and barrel selection of 100% Tempranillo aged for 8 months in French oak and a further 4 months in bottle.
The 2007 is now perfectly in its prime drinking phase, offering up sumptuous notes of black cherry, cassis, clove, liquorice and cigar box. Dense but wonderfully streamlined, this wine beautifully exemplifies how great Tempranillo can be the epitome of power and elegance.
