This is a unique sweet wine made on the Ligurian coast from local grape varieties grown in the extreme vineyards around the village of Riomaggiore in the stunningly beautiful Cinque Terre. It is a collaborative project between famed Barolo producer, Elio Altare, and the Bonanni family.
Winemaking is super traditional and simple, with the harvested Bosco and Albarola grapes dried on straw mats prior to fermentation with the skins. The wine is then given a period of maturation in small oak barrels. A lovely wine to pair with strong cheeses or apricot tarts, it offers up deliciously complex notes of caramelised pineapple, dried apricot and candied citrus, with a distinctively saline mineral finish.
