Alain Chavy has for the past decade or so been quietly producing high quality, impeccably balanced and long-lived Chardonnays from his 6.8 hectares of vines in the appellations of Puligny-Montrachet, Chassagne-Montrachet and Meursault. His rented parcel of Chevalier-Montrachet lies next to the Les Demoiselles climat and near the 1er Cru of Le Cailleret. The 2017 is perhaps a tad more angular and slightly less exuberant than the 2018, yet still retains wonderful natural intensity, texture and complexity.
