Given the highest possible status of Premier Grands Crus Classé (A), Château Cheval Blanc is considered by many to be one of the elite producers of St-Émilion and the wider Bordeaux region. The 1970s was a challenging decade but finished relatively well, with 1978 and 1979 being two of the stronger vintages. Well-stored bottles of 1978 Cheval Blanc that are in condition should still be drinking well, though are perhaps best consumed over the next 3-5 years.
