Domaine du Vieux Télégraphe is a family owned and operated estate and is one of the preeminent producers in Châteauneuf-du-Pape. Though one of the largest landowners in the region, they only produce two red and two white wines, of which this is the flagship. It is a traditionally styled wine usually comprised of around 65% Grenache, 15% Mourvedre, 10% Cinsault and 10% Syrah from the prime lieu-dit of La Crau. From the sensational 2016 vintage, this is an exuberant but endlessly pretty wine, with intense red berry fruits and an array of wild herb and dried flower scents. Amply endowed with concentrated fruit and silky tannins, it is remarkably refined and elegant on the palate, finishing with excellent length and endless nuances of herbs, earth and spices.
