Château de Beaucastel is one of the oldest and finest estates in Châteauneuf-du-Pape. 1989 saw the debut release of the flagship wine, Hommage a Jacques Perrin, which is only made in the best years and has production of around 350 cases on average.
The 2017 is a blend based on an unusually high proportion of Mourvedre, which was of exceptional quality due the extra heat of the vintage. It is incredibly full-bodied and rich, with superlative tannic structure and immense concentration of fruit. Though it is a little early to contemplate drinking just yet, this will undoubtedly evolve into something even more extraordinary.
