Chateauneuf du Pape Hommage a Jacques Perrin Beaucastel 300cl 1999
Dating back to 1549, Château de Beaucastel is undoubtedly one of the oldest and finest estates in Châteauneuf-du-Pape and has been run by successive generations of the supremely talented Perrin family. 1989 was the debut vintage for the flagship wine, Hommage a Jacques Perrin, and is only made in the best years with production limited to around 350 cases on average. The 1999 is a brilliant release comprised on 60% Mourvedre, 20% Grenache, 10% Syrah and 10% Counoise. It is powerful and perfumed, seamlessly combining immensely concentrated sweet berry fruit with subtle floral and spicy inflections. Another supreme example of Châteauneuf that is right in the slot for drinking but will continue to evolve for perhaps another decade.
