Chateauneuf du Pape Hommage a Jacques Perrin Beaucastel 300cl 1990
Dating back to 1549, Château de Beaucastel is undoubtedly one of the oldest and finest estates in Châteauneuf-du-Pape and has been run by successive generations of the supremely talented Perrin family. 1989 was the debut vintage for the flagship wine, Hommage a Jacques Perrin, and is only made in the best years with production limited to around 350 cases on average. The 1990 is an absolutely stellar release and perhaps one of Beaucastel’s greatest ever wines. Composed of 60% Mourvedre, 20% Grenache and the rest Syrah and Counoise, it is rich, full-bodied and effortlessly balanced, with remarkably complex notes of red fruits, prune, wild herbs, spices and meaty savoury undertones. An exceptional wine that is perfect for drinking now but has plenty left in the tank.
