Clos Saint Jean is run by brothers Vincent and Pascal Maurel and is considered amongst the very finest estates in Châteauneuf-du-Pape with the majority of their vineyards located in the iconic sub-zone of Le Crau. As is typical, the 2016 release is predominantly Grenache with a small amount of Syrah and several other varieties. It is lush and full-bodied, with silken texture and cascades of rich black cherry fruit and spicy savoury depth.
