Chateau de Chambert Cahors 2015

30 kilometres west of the town of Cahors, Château de Chambert lies between the Atlantic Ocean and the Mediterranean Sea. Owned and run by Philippe Lejeune since 2007, with the additional support of consultant winemaker Stéphane Derenoncourt, the estate has garnered considerable attention in France. Certified organic in 2012 and certified biodynamic at the end of 2015. The 2015 vintage is an elegant blend of 85% Malbec and 15% Merlot. Beautifully dark and intense in the glass, pronounced aromas of ripe red fruit, blueberries and violets fill the nose. On the palate, the fruit is balanced perfectly by silky tannins and gentle spice from French oak.
