Chacra is a small winery created by Piero Incisa della Rocchetta in 2004 with the intention of finding the purest expression of the micro-climate and terroir of Mainqué in the Rio Negro region of Patagonia. Mainqué is 100% Chardonnay made in collaboration with Jean-Marc Roulot of the illustrious Domaine Roulot in Meursault. It is fermented in barrel without malolactic and then ages for 11 months in a combination of concrete eggs, stainless steel and French oak barrels, of which 12% are new. Though 2017 was a warmer vintage, this still tops out at 12.5% ABV and offers incredible purity, precision and elegance, with a distinctive saline tang to the finish.
