The 2022 Chablis Valmur Grand Cru is very closed on the nose, perhaps the most austere of William Fèvres` cuvées, steely and almost curmudgeonly at the moment. The palate is well-balanced with a palpable saline leaning, very estuarine in style, with touches of oyster shell towards the finish. The purists` choice. Superb. - Neil Martin
Domaine William Fèvre Chablis Valmur 2022 is a full-bodied white wine produced from Chardonnay grapes from the Grand Cru climat of Valmur in the Chablis region of France. Centrally located among Chablis’ cluster of seven Grands Crus on the right bank of the Serein river, Valmur is one of the prime Chardonnay-producing vineyards in the Chablis region, its long-aged, terroir-focused wines giving many of the best whites of the Côte d’Or a run for their money. This 2022 vintage from William Fèvre – undoubtedly one of Chablis` finest, terroir-focused producers – was matured in a combination of neutral French oak barrels and stainless-steel vats. Expect crystalline citrus fruits complemented by hints of white flowers and intense mineral notes.
