Castillo Ygay Gran Reserva Especial is arguably the best-known release produced by the traditional Rioja wine estate Marqués de Murrieta. The 2011 vintage is a blend of 84% Tempranillo and 16% Mazuelo, aged for 28 months in 225-litre American and French oak barrels. Still youthful, the wine offers elegant tannins carrying flavours of dark plums, black cherries, caramel and violets that slowly fade into a soft cherry-pie finish. Presented here in an eye-catching 3-litre bottle which is perfect for sharing.
