A half century-aged Caol Ila and to date the oldest expressed ever bottled. Matured in ex-Sherry casks and bottled by independent bottler Gordon and MacPhail, limtied to 199 decanters.
Dried fruit, black tea, ripe melon and camphor mingle on the nose. There is delicate smoke here along with herbal notes and a dash of ocean breeze too. The palate is weighty with baked apples, Seville orange and mixed spice with Sherried oak on the tail end. The finish is long and evolving with wild herbs, citrus and beach bonfire.
