Banfi Brunello di Montalcino 1997 is a full-bodied Sangiovese red wine from the Montalcino sub-region of Tuscany, central Italy. Family-owned since 1978 and today managed by third-generation Cristina Mariani-May, Castello Banfi has grown to become one of the largest and most reputable producers in the Tuscany region, renowned in particular for the benchmark quality of its Brunello wines. On the 1997. "he Mariani family has produced a hugely concentrated, wood-dominated wine with powerful smoky aromas and concentrated black, ripe, chunky fruit. It’s heavy on the berries, both in the rustic, brambly nose and on the deep, tight, classy palate. Toasty flavours come through the fruit, but these will soften and blend in with aging."
