Founded in 1680 by Jean-Baptiste Braneyre, Château Branaire Ducru encompasses 50 hectares with vines that are up to 90 years old. The 2018 is a blend of 58% Cabernet Sauvignon, 33% Merlot, 5% Cabernet Franc and 4% Petit Verdot. It feels a little subdued at first, but it is already showing a firm tannic structure, with lovely notes of raspberries, blackberries and blackcurrants, along with hawthorn, brambles and a sprinkle of black pepper. Still in its youth but a very promising wine.
