Now under the stewardship of cousins Grégory and Antoine Gouges (great-grandsons of the original founder, Henri), Domaine Henri Gouges is probably one of the most famous domaines in Nuits St. Georges. From 14.5ha of meticulously tended vines, the wines of this esteemed label are renowned for their complexity, power and longevity.
This is a distinctive and characterful Bourgogne Blanc made from 100% Pinot Blanc grapes from a 0.7-hectare parcel of vines in the Côte de Nuits. From the wonderful 2018 vintage, this is juicy and ripe, with notes of orchard and tropical fruits atop more subtle hints of chamomile and beeswax. Best consumed young, this would pair nicely with a simple risotto bianco.
