Domaine Jacques-Frédéric Mugnier’s parcel of Bonnes Mares is a narrow strip of vineyard covering just 0.36 hectares. The grapes are destemmed and fermented on native yeasts in open-top wood fermenters, before ageing for 18 months in cask. The resulting wine displays a bright red and black fruit character, with a floral edge on the nose and a silky tension on the palate, paired with remarkable depth and nuance. The 2001 vintage is drinking beautifully now but can be enjoyed for many years to come.
