Château Bonalgue is a small Pomerol estate of just over 9 hectares owned by the Bourotte family, who also own Clos du Clocher. The 2009 is a bold and personality-laden release composed of 90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc. From a warm vintage, there is ample fruit concentration on offer but there is reassuring complexity derived from more savoury nuances of bitter chocolate, truffle and earth. Now approaching its peak, this would be delicious served alongside steak with Sauce Diane.
