Made from 100% Listrão grape variety (Palomino Fino), grown on the island of Porto Santo, in the archipelago of Madeira. The 1977 vintage was hand-harvested in the William Leacock vineyards, in one of the last harvests done in the Quinta do Ribeiro Salgado. The grapes were then transported by boat to the island of Madeira, where they were aged in the centuries-old Blandy’s Wine Lodges. The small island of Porto Santo is of volcanic origin, with arid sandy and clay soils. The vines are planted close to the ground and surrounded by walls, which protect them from the wind and the sea breeze, resulting in wines that are sweeter and have less acidity. This is a very rare fortified wine and the last of the Listrão stock. One of only 751 bottles that were bottled. Bright, crystalline, gold in colour. Boasting a distinct, complex and exuberant bouquet, where volatile aromas of brandy infuse with spices, hazelnuts and exotic wood. Fresh, volatile and intense on the palate with a long warm, spiced finish. Here in lovely half bottle format.
