The qualitative increase of Château Bellevue since 2000, when expert duo Nicolas Thienpont and Stephane Derenoncourt assumed control, has been pronounced. The gorgeous 2005 blends 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc and offers hugely perfumed notes of blackberries, cassis, charcoal, graphite and lavender. Now softening in middle-age, it still has chewy texture and a beautiful core of fruit.
