Bélair 2001 is a full-bodied, Merlot-based red wine from the St-Emilion appellation of Bordeaux. Château Bélair – now renamed Château Bélair-Monange – is a Grand Cru Classé B property as per the official Saint-Émilion classification. The estate covers approximately 26 hectares, planted to Merlot [90%] and Cabernet Franc [10%]. On the 2001 vintage. "This is very ripe and a tad confected on the nose with touches of tinned strawberries and a little sawdust. The palate is ripe with succulent tannins, although this is not a complex wine with notes of cherry, pomegranate and a touch of raspberry leaf. Good definition on the slightly austere finish. Not bad although not a long-term contender." Neal Martin, 2007
