Domaine de la Vougeraie was created in 1999 when Jean-Claude Boisset consolidated all the vineyard holdings accrued from his various négociant companies, consisting nearly 40 hectares of vines across 30 different appellations and including six grand crus. In recent years, this organic certified domaine has hit a new gear and is producing some of the most compelling wines in the region.
The sublime 2017 Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru was produced from a tiny 0.38ha parcel of vines planted as far back as 1970 and was matured for 17 months in 30% new oak barrels with an additional month in stainless steel before release. Full-bodied, multidimensional and generous, this is a brilliant wine that will reward those who tuck a few away for a couple of years.
