Batard Montrachet Domaine Leflaive 2012

HED82613 75cl 13%
Domaine Leflaive Bâtard-Montrachet 2012 is a full-bodied Burgundy white wine from the Grand Cru climat of Bâtard-Montrachet in the Côte de Beaune. Based in Puligny-Montrachet, Domaine Leflaive is a highly regarded producer focused almost entirely on white wines. Under the leadership of the late Anne-Claude Leflaive, the estate converted to biodynamic farming practices in the 1990s, one of the very first to do so in Burgundy. On the 2012 Bâtard-Montrachet. " Bright lemon-yellow. Deeper-pitched than the Pucelles, with nectarine and spice flavours complicated by leesy and smoky nuances. Big, rich and sweet, with peach and smoke flavours lifted by high notes of grapefruit and jasmine and enlivened by bracing acidity. Best today on the penetrating, rising finish, where the wine`s grapefruit cut leaves the mouth refreshed. Great potential here, but in need of at least eight years of aging." Vinous, 2014

Domaine Leflaive

Domaine Leflaive

Founded in the 18th century, Domaine Leflaive has built a storied reputation for its commitment to biodynamic farming and exceptional craftsmanship. The estate owns 22 hectares of vineyards, including 10 hectares of Premiers Crus in Puligny-Montrachet (Les Combettes, Les Pucelles, Le Clavoillon, Les Folatières), as well as no fewer than 5 hectares of Grands Crus (Chevalier-Montrachet, Bâtard-Montrachet, Bienvenues-Bâtard-Montrachet, and a tiny holding in Le Montrachet).

Joseph Leflaive, whose vision and dedication in the early 20th century were pivotal, transformed the domaine into a symbol of excellence. In the 1990s, Anne-Claude Leflaive introduced biodynamic practices, adhering to rigorous standards that respect the natural rhythms of the earth, promoting soil health and vine vitality without synthetic chemicals. This holistic approach results in Chardonnay wines celebrated for their purity, depth, and complexity. Each bottle reflects the rich heritage and innovative spirit that have made Domaine Leflaive a revered name among wine enthusiasts.
