Château Batailley is a prestigious Fifth Growth estate situated within the Pauillac appellation. The property is owned by the Castéja family, whose holdings also include Château Lynch-Moussas and the Saint-Émilion estate Château Trotte Vieille. This is their Grand Vin from the 2012 vintage, a blend of 80% Cabernet Sauvignon, 18% Merlot, 1% Cabernet Franc and 1% Petit Verdot. Expect plenty of cassis on the nose, followed by leather and lead pencil. The palate delivers rich dark fruits, violets, chocolate, plums and a sprinkle of sweet spices.
