Made only in exceptional vintages, the grapes for Barolo Monfortino macerates on their skins for up to five weeks with no temperature control regardless of how high the fermentation temperatures may go and is aged 7 years in botti. Monfortino is not a drinking wine, its a chewing wine, apparent in its huge tannic structure.

Critic James Suckling described the 2004 vintage as `...one of the most balanced and harmonious Monfortinos that I ever tasted. Aromas of dried rose petals and oranges. It`s full-bodied yet compacted and tight. Tannins are perfectly managed.`
