This is a wonderful old bottle of Barolo from producer, Franco Fiorina. As was more typical many decades ago in the Langhe, this is a blend of fruit from various villages within the Barolo subzone. The wines of Fiorina were made incredibly traditionally with fermentation in cement vats, minimal use of pump overs, and extended maturation in used Slavonian oak ’botte’. 1964 is generally considered to be an exceptional vintage with many wines that still show remarkable vitality and longevity.
