Founded in 1982 by Claudio Conterno and Guido Fantino, the Conterno Fantino winery cultivates 27ha of organically certified vines and produces about 140,000 bottles per year. Made with fruit from a 1.2-hectare plot in Monforte d’Alba, this is a brilliant release from the highly successful 2016 vintage. Classically styled, it is intense and incredibly tightly coiled, suggesting 3-5 more years of bottle age is advisable before approaching. However, this should evolve wonderfully over the next 10 to 20 years.
