Barbadillo Reliquia Amontillado

The Reliquia range of sherries were released to celebrate the six generations of the Barbadillo family and are drawn from the oldest casks of the bodega. They do not have an age statement but are said to contain wines that are well over 100 years old and are some of the rarest wines from the Jerez DO. The Amontillado is a gorgeous mahogany colour with an attractive green hue to the rim. The nose is incredibly intense and complex with scents of polished wood, bitter almonds and iodine. It is powerful, mouthfilling and bone dry on the palate with remarkable palate concentration. This is a singular drinking experience and, as with fine Cognac or whisky, smalls meditative sips are often all that is required. This is released with consumption in mind and will therefore not improve in the bottle, however, once opened it should last for several months.
