Barbadillo Palo Cortado 15 Year Old Obispo Gascon

Founded in 1821, Barbadillo is a seventh-generation family owned and operated bodega based in Sanlucar de Barrameda. The Palo Cortado style is one of their specialities and originates from a Manzanilla. At around 20 years average age, Obispo Gascón is bottled from the fifth criadera and has a wonderfully fragrant nose of dried apricot, candied orange peel, roasted nuts, caramel and coffee. On the palate it is elegant and dry with notes of preserved citrus, citrus peel, fig, roasted nuts and brine. Not quite is rich and full-bodied as an Oloroso, this rides a beautiful line between youthful freshness and aged savoury complexity.
