Released as part of the Balvenie "Stories…" series, this particular 12YO whisky was first aged in ex-Bourbon barrels before being finished in heavily toasted virgin US oak. The result is an elegant dram with notes of butterscotch, light brown sugar, vanilla custard and spicy oak on the nose. The palate adds citrus oil, honey and a touch of charred oak before a malt-forward finish with yet more vanilla and spice.
