Stewart MBE revisited one of his notable accomplishments – sequential maturation in two distinct types of casks, a method commonly known as `cask finishing.` This pivotal technique defines The Balvenie DoubleWood, involving the initial maturation in American oak barrels, imparting gentle sweet vanilla notes. Subsequently, the whisky is transferred to European oak sherry casks for the second phase of ageing, contributing rich spicy flavours and enhancing its overall depth.
