There`s speculation suggesting that Avonside might have originated as a single malt from Glenlivet. However, the name has also been employed by Gordon and MacPhail for younger blends and blended malts. This particular expression, distilled in 1938, was aged for 35 years before being bottled. The initial Connoisseurs Choice labels featured black and red designs, marking the inception of the range. Originating in the early 1970s for Edoardo Giaccone in Italy, it later integrated into the primary Gordon & MacPhail portfolio in 1979. Today, this label has earned widespread recognition as one of the most prominent independent whisky brands globally.
