Granted DOCG status in 1992, Montefalco Sagrantino is a bold and powerful red wine from the central Italian region of Umbria. By law it must be made from at least 95% Sagrantino grown around the town of Montefalco and must be aged for a minimum of 30 months.
Marco Caprai is widely regarded as one of the leading producers in the region and this is a powerful yet elegant expression of 100% Sagrantino that has been aged for 22 months in French oak barrique and 8 months in bottle. It is a wonderful introduction to the regional grape variety and style.
