Almaviva was founded in 1996 as a collaborative project between Baron Phillippe de Rothschild and Concha y Toro, with 40 hectares of prime Puente Alto vineyards being dedicated to the mission of creating Chile’s first Bordeaux Grand Cru Classé equivalent.
The 2016 release is composed of 66% Cabernet Sauvignon, 24% Carmenere, 8% Cabernet Franc and 2% Petit Verdot, matured in French oak barriques for 16 months. From a complicated, rain-affected vintage, this is a beautifully harmonious but slightly lighter and fresher release. It is youthfully vibrant and accessible though has the potential to develop nicely in bottle.
