Aalto 2017

Aalto has only existed since 1999, however, with Mariano Garcia (Vega Sicilia winemaker for 30 years) at the helm the winery has gone from strength to strength and is now one of the most highly regarded producers in the Ribera del Duero region. The flagship wine, Aalto, is 100% Tinto Fino (Tempranillo) sourced from 40- to 80-year-old vines located in seven different villages and is matured for 16 months in French and American oak. The 2017 is deep purple red in colour and exudes wonderful aromas of black cherry, raspberry, spice and oak. The palate is full-bodied and rich but rounded and smooth with classic flavours of cassis, liquorice, espresso and tobacco.
